Photo #1 – 92 Eyes

Urban Eye, originally uploaded by brockney52.

Canon EOS REBEL T2i, 1/80 sec, f/8.0, 55mm, ISO 100
Three exposures processed as an HDR in Photomatix Pro, then finished in Photoshop Elements 9

Three eyes have recently appeared on the exterior of the old vacant Worcester Vocational High School building. They look suspiciously similar to the eyes I found in 2009 near the old vacant Bancroft Motors building. I wish I knew who the stealth artist is!

This is the first photo in a 365 Photo Challenge in 2011 that I am participating in with other photographers from the Elements Village Forum. We have 365 themes to illustrate; we share our photos on a photo blog; and we visit and comment on each others’ photos. It’s great fun, we learn together, and we meet new friends from around the world. We’re also a very easygoing group – you can participate as much or as little as you want.

Everyone is welcome to join. If you are interested, visit Elements Village to learn more about it. It’s not too late! You won’t regret it.

They do look the same as that other graffiti. Very rich looking in the HDR. I need to explore that more! Happy 2011!

Your processing is wonderful… emphasizes all those straight architectural lines. And I love the eye….the artist placed it in a wonderful spot in my opinion.

An Eye on the community indeed.

  4. Bobbie says:

This would be a fascinating shot to begin with, what with the lighting and the architectural details. The surreal grafitti ramps it up.

  5. Terri says:

Graffitti is so artistic and interesting, love seeing it on old buildings and trains, you have a good “eye”, ha ha ha.

That is one heck of an artist…and what a fun spot to put it! Great find and what a cool building!

I like the way the HDR emphasizes the character of the building and art.

Wonderful shot, and the processing really nails it. Great first post!

Nice start for 2011! In 2010, I really enjoyed the photos where you captured the old buildings in your town… and also the graffiti artists. Here you combine both topics wonderfully.

Wonderful processing. The windows and lines of the building lead the eye to the eye

What a great image…..nice find and brilliantly processed

  13. interesting eye, wonder how many that notices it…..
    great photocomposition

  14. Steven says:

Nice processing. Do you think the owners of the building will cover it up or will they allow it to stay? Hence the debate on graffiti!

  15. Tony says:

well done! Astonishing thing: Eyes are watching you and me, from everywhere.

  16. Deena says:

What a wonderful HDR image. You nailed it with this shot. A very interesting image as my eye keeps going back to the building’s eye!

  17. Sheila says:

Great one Karen — I think I need to make a visit there before they tear it down!
