NO MORE DSLR EQUIPMENT FOR ME – TREY RATCLIFF
I can’t picture myself investing any more money in DSLR bodies and lenses. The new Nikon D4 that is coming out? Not interested.
3rd Gen Cameras are already here, and they will only get better according to all the laws of size and speed we’ve come to know and love.
via DSLRs are a dying breed – 3rd Gen Cameras are the Future.
In his Stuck in Customs blog today, Trey Ratcliff, the HDR photography superstar, has declared that DSLRs are a dying breed.
What do you think? I just bought my DSLR last year and love it. Do you think we will all be moving to the new mirrorless/micro four thirds/whatever cameras in another five years? Is this new type of camera a replacement or an alternative for my APS-C Canon T2i?
I hope not…I have too much money invested in the DSLR lol BUT, that is probably what will happen, they keep having to come out with something new to get more money!
I too, hope he his wrong. I have my eye on a new DSLR…
I’m waiting for the implant that will allow me to ‘blink’ my shots directly on to the memery card stuck in my ear
Zillionaires can afford anything, I went to my limit with the D5100
Gosh, just when I was getting comfortable with my DSLR. I am sticking with my Canon 7D until it does not stick with me. Thanks for the post Karen.
Thanks for the comments, everyone. I think Steve has the best idea! Like a bluetooth set for cameras.
I think we may end up with a variety of alternate equipment for photography, but the micro four thirds stuff will become increasingly competitive with the low-end DSLRs.
For casual shooters like myself, the differences in quality of finished photos are not easily noted. For dedicated photographers, the sensor size of DSLR’s is more important. I have a 4/3 DSLR (Olympus 510) now and love the creativity it allows me to imagine. Having said that, I use my canon sx210 for 90% of my shooting as it is more compact and I am happy with the results most of the time. I think DSLR’s are here to stay for the demanding photographer. For me, not so much.
I don’t think so. I love my DSLR and won’t get rid of it until it wants to get rid of me!
