While some digital camera types aren’t long for this world, the DSLR isn’t one of them.

Trey Ratcliff’s article about the death of the DSLR (see this post) brought an interesting spectrum of comments and observations from my readers.
Thank you, Gerald Blaquiere, for sharing with us this very informative article by Molly McHugh on the Digital Trends site. Molly observes that the real losers to the new mirrorless cameras will be the low-cost point-and-shoots and not the DSLRs. Read the article – you’ll like it!
In the spirit of expanding the camera repertoire, I took my old Canon SX10 IS (superzoom) to the beach with me today.
I used a free Lightroom preset (Walk on the beach) from Isabelle Lafrance to process this image. I also bumped up the saturation of the blues and added a Color type vignette in Lightroom.

Seems obvious to me and not having Lightroom, don’t gel with presets yet! Love the line of the picket fence though!
Really nice processing. I like the color vignette. The bit of blue in your photo contrasts so wonderfully with the neutral snowfencing.
Very nice image…I might have to get that preset….
I am in love with the blues in this image…makes me want to jump in (even though I know it is cold)! Thanks for sharing the preset!
Love the processing.
