    Hi Karen
I have amassed a collection of tutorials, including your own, and I do have both Photoshop CS2 and Elements 7. There is so much clever stuff out there but your emphasis on Elements makes your site special. It must be difficult to find new subjects but I feel that there ought to be scope for new Elements lessons based upon existing PS ones.

I know there are ways of using workarounds, like getting a mask from a Levels Adjustment Layer, and I have wondered whether it might be possible to replicate the Color Match tool. I know how to pick a single colour from one image to another but the Color Match tool in PS can replicate the whole range of colours, as for instance to make your picture look like an old master.

There is no Pen tool in Elements but I’m sure I have seen one forming part of something else in Elements and I wonder if there might be a workaround enabling that to be used as in PS.

Please don’t forget your admirers who haven’t got the latest version.

Peter, I haven’t found a workaround in Photoshop Elements for the Match Color tool. I , too , miss it and am disappointed that it wasn’t carried over from Photoshop. The Pen tool, I don’t miss so much! Again no workaround in Photoshop Elements, other than using the Elements + plug-in to recover some vector graphic functions.

    Hi Peter,

I have CS2, too – and Photoshop Elements 7 and 8. Most of my tutorials work in the previous versions, but I’ll remember to explain when there are some differences.

I’ll check out the Color Match tool and the Pen tool in CS2. I’m using PSE so much now that I rarely go back to CS2. I don’t know if there are workarounds for these – especially the Pen tool.

For other Photoshop functions that are hidden in Photoshop Elements, there is an add-on you can purchase, Elements+. It adds back many features and is accessed from the Effects panel.

I love your website and just wanted to thank you so much for your tuts.
I like projects to do or follow with others.
I can’t get enough of Fantasy projects, blending layers/pictures and brushes and textures and realist room, doors, windows, frames, to make a final back or template.
I love surfing for photo galleries to get ideas.
But thanks again it is very special of you.

Thanks for your comments, Barb. Your fantasy projects sound fascinating. We’ll have to try that sometime!

    Hi Karen

As a newcomer to Photoshop, I want to thank you for being such an angel in sharing your knowledge and expertise.
The way you explain things is extremely helpful. I am progressing in leaps and bounds, all thanks to you.

Alida, I’m glad the lessons are so useful for you. The learning curve may be steep at first, but once you have that “Aha!” moment, everything clicks.

    Actually, two questions:
I have some royalty-free line art borders that I would like to use with my photos. They’re small (1.5″ x 2.5″) and, when I scan them at 600dpi and enlarge them to 6″ x 9″ in PSE8 they have the “jaggies.” How can I smooth those edges?

Second, how do I make the centers transparent and place them over my pix?

    TIA,

    Michael
